Is Consciousness Energy?
June 11, 2008
If you tune into someone's "vibrations," are you picking up some form of energy they are emitting - perhaps something we might call "psychic energy?"
It may be tempting to think so . . . to think of consciousness as a form of energy. But is it?
What might be going on when we say we feel someone's vibrations?
Well, one possibility is that their brain or their body could be sending out waves of energy - something, perhaps, like electricity. If so, it must be far more subtle than any form of energy known to...more

Recipe for Simplicity
May 6, 2008
"Simplify, Simplify…" More than a century after Henry David Thoreau uttered these words, his plea for simplicity has more significance now than ever before.
We work hard and play hard, filling nearly every moment with activity. Most families believe they need two incomes to pay for a standard of living that has doubled in the last 50 years. But do we?
Based on my three-year study of over 200 people who have simplified their lives, I found that we can work less, want less, and spend less, and be happier and more fulfilled in the process.
Here are ten...more
Spiritual Diversity
April 29, 2008
To our pre-Christian spiritual ancestors, spirituality was both contemporary and relevant. In cultures where polytheism (the belief in many gods) was the rule, rather than the exception, individuals were given the ability to find their own beliefs and to choose their own spiritual paths based upon their personal needs and the calling of their own hearts. Households had specific deities that represented the prosperity and protection that the family hoped for their home. Agricultural festivals had gods that watched over the planting, the growing crops, and the harvest. This diverse pantheon of deities created a culture where a person would draw closest to the god...more

Living Within Nature's Cycles
May 6, 2008
The writing I share with you is "Return" from p. 81 of _Everyday Tao_ by Deng Ming-Dao, Harper San Francisco, NY, 1996, ISBN 0-06-251395-8.
"Return
"One needs to understand cycles to understand Tao.
"Days and nights, summers and winters
Waves curling up, consumed by new waves,
The ongoing march of generations,
The vapor of water congealing into clouds-
Tao is cyclical, not linear.
"The multitude of things are innumerable,
But they travel circularly.
Those who accord with Tao
Understand rise and fall
And gain clarity and insight.
Those who do not accept...more

Friends Help Keep You Healthy!
April 13, 2008
At the 1972 Grammy Awards recognizing 1971 musical achievements, Carole King, songwriter, won the Song of the Year award and James Taylor, performer, won the award for Best Pop Vocal Performance-Male. Both awards were for the song "You’ve Got A Friend."
The world was a pretty stressful place in 1971, and I think an important statement was made about the needs of the people when a ballad about friendship was chosen as the most important musical accomplishment of the year.
Just how important is it to have good friends? Pretty...more

The Power of Affirmations
February 22, 2007
Affirmations are words or phrases which are said over and over to AFFIRM a single thought about yourself or other people. This is the way you have formed negative and positive programming through out your lifetime, saying things to yourself, about yourself, over and over. After thoughts are repeated, they soon become a BELIEF, and then we think this belief is our reality. In this way we form fears of poverty, health, weight and relationships and the emotions connected with these beliefs can even become our comfort zone, no matter how negative they might be.
Since we created these...more

What Is Spiritual Awareness?
February 22, 2007
There are many different sounding answers all linked by a commonality. No matter what spiritual path you have chosen to walk, in order to be more spiritually aware, set aside time to strip away the unnecessary tradition or dogma and in an ultimate distillation the truth will be found. You know all things, each of you holds the answers and yet the fragmentation of yourself erects barriers to becoming whole and to being. It is this fragmentation that separates us from spirit and raises these kind of spiritual questions.
- Who am I?

Why do I feel something is missing in...more

The Perfect Imperfection of Our Relationships
February 22, 2007
In the course of my practice, I've increasingly been met by people with relationship problems -- spouses, lovers, parents, children, even the living and the departed -- people whose lives are disrupted by various issues regarding the ones they love, have loved or regarding the search for love.
Some, maybe most, of this increasing disturbance in relationships can be attributed to Earth Changes -- the changes of energies associated with astrological and solar upheaval impelling Earth's citizens toward Ascension. But Earth Changes, Ascension, Zero Point, End of Times, etc., energies only accelerate our spiritual paths, they don't make...more

Prayer: Communication back and forth with our source. Supplication, meditation, hand in hand, energy uplifted by appreciation reduces stress and carries out a useful plan.
- Supplication Asking for guidance by using our own words or set prayers

Maybe it is this overvalued notion of spontaneity,...more

Whole-Self Time Management
February 17, 2007
Many of us would relate to the following thought:
There aren't enough breaks in my life, with work and home (consisting of 2 kids, 1 hubby, 2 dogs) and not enough time for ME! This article is about taking a different look at this issue.
Do you remember back when you were in school, and you had regular report cards? Imagine that you are still getting report cards. Except now, the subjects are no longer English, Math or Physical Education.
Let's say you're doing very well at WORK, pretty well at FAMILY, but SELF...more

Finding Peace In The Age of Anxiety - Meditation
February 17, 2007
How can we find positive, sustainable comfort in this age of anxiety? A comfort that connects us to ourselves, and the Divine, regardless of our religion or spiritual tradition? In my life, meditation is a key that turns the lock and opens the mind and heart, as it shifts us from unconsciousness back into consciousness.
In my mediation practice and the groups I lead we experience the positive pleasure of being alive. Meditation allows us to reduce our pains, and rekindle our hopes and dreams. It takes us to an inner sanctuary where our inner resources can fuel our...more

Practicing Intentional Relaxation
February 16, 2007
The cornerstone of looking good is feeling good. Well-being is an individualist concept and begins with self-exploration and learning what works best for you.
We are constantly told that exercise is the most effective method to improving our health. While there is substantiated truth to this fact, most people have no idea that exercise can be used as a means of connecting to and improving bodily functions. The more familiar you become with your body the smoother it will run. Although weights, reps, sets, classes, and cardio are methods by which you can improve your overall health, the...more

It was going so well...what happened??
February 12, 2007
There seems to be a new phenomenon of late whereby a first date seems to go extremely well and may well lead on to a second date and then all of a sudden it's over. Why would this happen when everything seemed so right? The chemistry was there, shared interests and the kissing was good too so what happened? I wish I had an answer to this one as it has happened to me a couple of times and each time it has left me pondering how many different variables are involved in making a successful relationship. I do however...more
